2020 Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors – How It All Works!

  • The Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors is a 4 day Festival Celebration held September 24-27, 2020
  • The Festival is a Celebration of the grandeur of all motorized vehicles and the beauty of Telluride and the surrounding San Juan mountains during the spectacular fall season of the Rocky Mountains
  • No official judging occurs at the Festival. There will, however, be “People’s Choice” awards presented for the British Concours on Saturday, the Open Class Concours on Sunday and the 2 day Motorcycle Concours.
  • Dogs are not permitted at any Telluride Airport event or at anytime on the golf course Concours events. Please plan to leave your dog (s) at home.

Within the “Festival Footprint” there are 4 distinct locations in which cars, motorcycles, and aircraft are staged. Each location mainly features a specific group of vehicles and will run from 1 to 2 days in duration depending of the featured vehicle group.

What to consider when registering your vehicle for the Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors:

Different venues are staged for different lengths of time.

Cars and Motorcycles may choose between staging in the Concours events OR staging in the Cool Cars on Colorado events, not both. If you submit your car for consideration in one of the Concours events and your vehicle is not chosen to participate, you will be notified by March 15, 2020 and your registration can be transferred to the Cool Cars on Colorado.

  • Motorcycles: This is a 2 day venue: Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th, 2020 from 10a-3p. Staged on the Telluride golf course in Mountain Village. Motorcycles remain staged for the duration of the 2 days, for pedestrian and safety reasons there will be no in and out. Registration fee: $50 per vehicle. If your motorcycle is chosen to participate in the Motorcycle Concours, Two – 4 Day Festival Passes will be included in your participation, a $598 value.
  • Cars:
    • Concours Level Cars:  The Concours event is split into 2 different classes, highlighted on separate days. The Concours staging will be on the Telluride Golf Course Driving Range in Mountain Village. Registration fee: $50 per vehicle by March 1, 2020 and $100 after March 1, 2020.
      •  Saturday, September 26th: British Concours. Venue hours: 10am – 3pm
      •  Sunday, September 27th: Open Class Concours. Venue hours: 10am – 3pm
      • If your care is chosen to participate in a Concours event, Two – 4 Day Festival Passes will be included in your participation, a $598 value.
    • Cool Cars on Colorado: Cool Cars on Colorado is staged on Telluride’s iconic main street, Colorado Avenue. This unique main street venue consists of 2 separate 1 day stagings and registration is FREE. Car owners may choose to stage their car 1 or both of the days. Cars must be staged and removed from main street each day. Motorcycles are welcomed to stage at this venue as well! Staging days and hours are:
      • Friday, September 25th from 4:30pm-7:00p. Friday ONLY will also include the Cars & Colors “Cruise to Colorado”. Cars will gather at the Telluride Regional Airport no later then 4:00pm and all participating cars will parade down to Telluride together.
      • Saturday, September 26th from 12p – 3p

How to register your vehicle for the Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors: ALL vehicles must register online to ensure proper notification of load in instructions and to receive Festival Passes. No onsite/day of registration will be available. You can register your car, motorcycle or war bird online here at the Festival website,, using the Registration button on the top right hand side of the page.

You may register as many vehicles as you like as long as they are on separate registration forms. Submission does not guarantee acceptance and is at the discretion of the Festival selection committee. You may request a certain venue (i.e. the Concours) however the selection committee makes all staging decisions. Once your vehicle is accepted, you will be informed of the committee’s staging decision and fees, if applicable, will be collected at that time. Vehicles submitted by March 1, 2020 will receive acceptance letters via email starting March 15, 2020.

Festival Transportation: If your car is staged in any of the Cars & Colors venues and you would like to see other venues during the day, the Telluride-Mountain Village Gondola will be available to get you where you want to go during Festival hours (Airport venue not included).

Festival Tickets: If you have a vehicle staged on the Concours then you will be provided with a 4 Day Festival Pass.

Cool Cars on Colorado participants: This is a ‘free to register’ and ‘free to view’ venue so no passes or tickets are included.

The Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors also includes cash prize contests (for 4 Day Festival Pass Holders), vendors, musical entertainment, evening events, unique afternoon excursions and special displays that run anywhere from a few hours to all 4 days; making Cars & Colors a unique event that truly offers something for everyone!
